A quality 6–7 ft tree with a decent ornament set, lights, garlands, wreaths and finishing can easily run into the low thousands of dirhams in Dubai — before your time. Then there are the hours of assembly, dressing, positioning, fixing and eventual removal, usually during the busiest weeks of the year.

For a single small tree you already own, family decorations with sentimental value, or a space where a relaxed, personal look genuinely is the goal, DIY is a reasonable choice. The main costs are your time and whatever you spend on supplies that may only be used once.

Professional decoration earns its keep when the stakes are higher: a villa where the whole interior should feel continuous, an office or reception that greets clients daily, a grand tree beyond DIY scale, or simply a December where your time is better spent elsewhere.
